File cache in Windows 10. How to clean and speed up the system?

Each user always wants his computer to work as quickly as possible, but he does not know at all how this can be done. There is a risk of downloading virus programs to your PC for overclocking or cleaning, but they will not speed up the technique, but on the contrary, will only bring harm.

Accessing data in the cache is faster than fetching raw data from slower memory or a remote source, but its volume is significantly limited compared to the original data storage.

A cache is a collection of temporary files used by an application or program in Windows 10, or by the operating system itself. In some cases, if your cache can become corrupted over time or grow too large, it can cause a blue screen, slow performance, or cause other unexpected Windows 10 problems.

Clearing the web browser cache

If the web page has changed and your browser continues to load outdated cache data, the site may not function as expected. This is why one of the general troubleshooting methods includes clearing the cache and frees up some disk space.

В Firefox open in the right corner “Menu» → «Magazine» → «Delete history“, Then in the window for deleting the entire history, select the cache and click”Delete now».

In Chrome browser in the right corner, open “Menu” → “Additional tools” → “Delete data about viewed pages …” → “Clear history” select “Images and other files saved in the cache” and click clear history.

In the Opera browser in the left corner, open the “Menu”, go to the “History” tab, here in the right corner, click “Clear history …” in the newly appeared window, select “Cached images and files”, click to clear the history of visits.

The Windows Store will create temporary files when downloading apps. Sometimes, you may run into certain issues while using your Windows Store. Likely Windows Store cache damaged or defective. Thus, one of the methods for solving store-related problems of the application is to clear its cache.

Disk Cleanup Utility

Disk Cleanup is a built-in feature in your Windows 10. You can also use this tool to clean up various types of system cache and other junk files. Here’s a simple guide for you.

Step 1: Click Windows + S, search for disk cleanup and double-click the search result to open this tool.

Step 2: in the pop-up window, select the drive you want to clear from the drop-down menu and click OK .

Step 3: Wait patiently until the tool finishes scanning this disc. The files that can be deleted will be listed here, and you just need to check the items you want to delete.

Temporary windows “temp” files

A temporary file is a common type of cache on your computer. By default, temporary files are stored in the path C:UsersAdminAppDataLocalTemp -да … To clear them you can press Windows + R to open the run window, enter %temp% and press the button OK to open folders Temp… Then delete all temporary files and folders in it.

Disable hibernation

Instead of completely shutting down your computer, you can put it to sleep – state quasi-offwhich allows you to start the system faster. When your computer goes to sleep, it saves a snapshot of your files and drivers before shutting down, and this takes up some space on your hard drive.

If fast startup isn’t your priority, you might be able to reclaim some valuable disk space by disabling hibernation altogether, because the files responsible for hibernation sometimes take up 75 percent of your PC’s installed RAM. This means that if you have 8 GB of RAM, you can immediately clear 6 GB by disabling hibernation.

In Windows 10, you can disable hibernation in the section System-Power and sleep mode. You can still use Control Panel, but you have to go Control Panel-Hardware and Sound-Power-Transition Setting in hibernation and also set the parameter “Never”.

Keep in mind that clearing the cache can only speed up some processes. For example, if you disable the use of sketches, the explorer will slow down. If you delete the trash can, you may lose some files that might be useful.

If you clear your browser data incorrectly, you risk losing your password information. Therefore, you should carefully monitor what data you delete.

Removing the cache can both speed up and slow down the system. You should be careful with your files. It is recommended to manually select the system resources to be deleted. This way, you can protect valuable information as well as ensure data confidentiality.

As you can see, freeing up disk space on Windows 10 devices requires a little knowledge and a little time. Allocate a few minutes to your hard drive and then a laptop, desktop PC or tablet will thank you with fast work, which will undoubtedly save you time and nerves, which, as you know, cannot be restored.
