The researchers write that they thwarted a number of foreign influence operations, which were backed by China, Russia, Iran and Tunisia. As a result, over 2,500 YouTube channels, multiple Adsense, Play Developer, and advertising accounts were blocked.

For example, 2,596 blocked channels were allegedly linked to disinformation campaigns backed by China, another 86 channels on YouTube were allegedly coordinated from Russia and 19 channels were allegedly used by Iran for various influence operations.

For example, analysts write that the Chinese intelligence services have mainly concentrated on downloading spam and non-political content, with very little interspersed with political content in Chinese.
