Password manager – Gopass

Password manager – Gopass

gopass is a command-line password manager written in Go. It supports all major operating systems (Linux, MacOS, BSD) as well as Windows.

For detailed instructions on how to use and install it, please see the gopass command-line password manager. In documentation .

Design Principles

Gopass is a command-line-based universal password manager that is developed with the following principles in mind:

  • Easy : for technical users (i.e. those who are used to the command line) it will be easy to start with gopass.
  • Security : Security is difficult. We strive to make it as easy as possible, while providing a good level of protection against ordinary attackers. Attention ! If your personal threat level is very high, we cannot offer you a good tool.
  • Extensibility : although Gopass includes a fair amount of useful features, we cannot cover all the usage options. To support more special uses, we want to provide a clean and simple API to integrate gopass into your own binaries.

See Docs / for an extensive list of all functions and a few usage examples.

See docs/

If you have Go 1.14 (or above):

GO111MODULE=on go get

WARNING: Please give preference to releases if you do not want to contribute to gopass development. The main branch may not be well tested and may contain critical changes without further notice.

For an update with Go installed.

go get -u

Otherwise, use the installation documentation mentioned in the installation section to reinstall the latest version.

This project uses GitHub Flow . In other words, create function branches from the wizard, open the PR for the wizard and reinstall to the wizard if necessary. Only compatible with the last stable version of Go .
