Self-destructive photos and videos in WhatsApp on the way

For several months WhatsApp has been testing the function of sending media files, which should be automatically deleted for all chat participants after the specified timer. The first mention of this innovation appeared in early March. Now, with the release of the beta version 2.20.201.1 for Android, in the client appeared clear evidence of the existence of this function: the corresponding icons and dynamic icons timers. In the new beta version of WhatsApp for Android, the timer icon is displayed next to the button to send media files – if it is active (highlighted in green), then the timer is set.

Unlike text messages, the images, videos and GIFs sent will simply disappear from the chat when the timer expires – there is no corresponding notification in place of such media files (at least in the current beta version).
